Biography

Jeff Gray is an artist, teacher, musician, and designer exploring the intersection between human experience and memory with the everyday tangible interaction of objects and interfaces. In addition, Jeff builds visualization tools and analysis software, as well as musical interfaces (both physical and software-based).  Recently, he finished a project named "Memory Nodes", an installation in conjunction with the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council exploring personal memories made public through touch-activated devices. His other recent work includes a visualization project of the Antikythera device for the Children's Museum of Manhattan, "Doppleganger", a theater residency investigating sensors on performers in conjunction with 3 Legged Dog, and a batch of tools for the Department of Peacekeeping Operations at the United Nations.  Jeff is currently also an instructor at Hunter College and Parsons New School of Design here in New York.
