Biography
After three years of musical and experimental performance in Los Angeles, Michael moved to South Korea to study Korean traditional folk singing. Apprenticing Master Pak Jung Wook for nearly two years, he had the opportunity to travel around Korea performing traditional Korean songs and theater. In New York Michael has had numerous performances of AmSynth, a human-gesture driven radio sampler that he built. Working with dance group Esse Aficionado (esseaficionado.org), he created a number of large scale sound installations and compositions for live dance. Michael is a founding member of OperaOmniac, a performance group that incorporates dance and technology with community and environmental activism. He is also working with a design team on a hospital lounge for severely handicapped children that will break from the repetitive cyclical time of the hospital and through the use of lights, sounds, vibrations and interactivity, will create a nature-like environment.
